Short Bio

I was born abroad and spent a large part of my life outside the UK.

When I was only 2, my father's work in the Foreign Office took him to Geneva where I spent my formative years and my early career.

In 1998 I decided to return to the UK. When opportunity knocked, could not resist the lure of working with new cultures and did a stint in the Middle East, based in Dubai for 4 years.

I have now been back in the UK for a good number of years and have been working with Enterprise customers in EMEA.

I worked in IT from way before I thought it would be a career.

My first job in IT was at 14 and I wrote code to generate a mail-merge document in WordStar. The next one was teaching teachers at the International School of Geneva how to use a computer - though I was not doing the teaching but helping the teachers complete the exercises they were set.

From there I moved on to a variety of project-based work for Dupont, the last one of which was building a database (in dBase III) and ancialliary programs to record the annual evaluations of around 600 DISA PPD employees.

My first full-time job in IT was working for a PC dealer as their technical manager - building and reparing computers.

Owing mostly to my knowledge of Unix, I was poached to go work for Burroughs/Unisys as a pre- and post-sales consultant. After 3 years based in Switzerland I got the opportunity to teach Unix at Unisys' European Training Centre in Milton keynes for 18 months.

Going back to my technical roots, I worked on industrial IT for customers in the watch-making world until that company sadly folded.

My first break into management came from Munich Re Group's Swiss company: New Reinsurance Company ("New Re") where I took the helm of the IT function, reporting in to the MD. This was a fascinating transformation challenge as, when I joined, there were only 2 computers outside of the IT department, and admin staff spent hours daily in front of the telex and fax machines. By the time I left to move back to the UK in 1998, following my wider family, New Re's admins used MS Word to write telexes and faxes from their desktops and everyone had been trained on the key Office products they needed and used daily.

On returning to England I went back to a technical role and in the space of a couple years was 50% of the team that created the Support Escalations team at Tower Technology.

My next role was a pivot into the world of consulting and Business Rules with FICO's Blaze Advisor with which I implemented analytics and predictive models for banks etc.

Quest approached me to go back to my roots, so to speak, and focus on systems and performance as a pre-sales for the Foglight APM product. Later I moved to Dubai to handle the APM (and other) presales for the Emerging market, eventually running a team of presales across the whole software portfolio.

Sticking to the APM theme I moved to become AppDynamics' first Sales Engineer in the Middle East. However, family matters pulled me back to the UK after almost 4 years in the UAE.

After a 1-year stint at Datadog, the lure of applying AI to alerts and incdent drew me to Moogsoft.

My last role was with Resolve where I used my soft skills again to advise customers on how to drive value through automation.

Some colleagues have been kind enough to share their views or recommendations.

David Judge brought a ton of value to our Sales Engineering team here at Resolve, and I can't recommend him enough to anyone out there looking to bring a new SE into their organization.
